| In line with the Department of Tourism Development Program and the thrust of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s government to improve the tourism industry, the Department of Tourism through the Philippine Tourism Authority |
|
| in cooperation with the Intramuros Administration embarked on a project constructing a facility that serves as a venue housing a permanent exhibit focusing on Intramuros , the Walled City. |
| As conceived, the venue is not only a Museum. It showcases a permanent exhibit that uses Light and Sound presenting the context of Intramuros history, the story of the Filipino people’s quest for liberty and nationhood embodied in the deeds of heroes since Rajah Sulayman and catalyzed by Jose Rizal through his works. |
| Likewise, the Intramuros and Rizal’s Bagumbayan Light and Sound Museum served as the centerpiece project of the “Visit Philippines 2003” campaign under the leadership of then DOT Secretary Richard Gordon. |

GENERAL DESCRIPTION |
| The Light and Sound Show is basically a narrative in the form of images and sounds evoking moments in the history of Intramuros. | robotics movement and visual show portraying true-to-life experiences. Sounds produced electronically or acoustically as a track and/or a musical score, serve to make the images more affective by enhancing the mood and adding a sense or realism to the viewer. |
The main objective of the Light and Sound Show is to create a dynamic, palpable and memorable narrative or story in the images and sound, unraveling the story of Filipinos’ quest for nationalism thru history, catalyzed by Jose Rizal, and set against the backdrop of the history of Intramuros.
It is envisioned that the Viewer will come out of the light and sound show entertained and imbued with a renewed sense of national pride if he is a Filipino, and instilled with an admiration for the Filipino race if he is a foreigner. |
| The Light and Sound Show is a One (1) hour journey into the colorful realm of our past. Three hundred thirty-three (333) years worth of Philippines history (under the Spanish rule) is narrated using video clips, light and sound effects plus moving mannequins making it a truly realistic and unforgettable experience. For the students, the light and sound show is an alternative medium to learn history in a more entertaining and interesting way.
