| Project Description |
The property is composed of two islands, one bigger than the other, both of which is surrounded by coral reefs. The big island is shaped like a heart. Both islands and its surrounding environs have been declared a national marine sanctuary. The surrounding coral reefs play host to a rich marine and aquatic life. The island is known for its pink - colored beach which was formed by the coral bits that were washed ashore. You can find on the island a fishing village, an old Muslim burial ground, a lagoon, and a lighthouse. The State College of Marine Sciences and Technology established a research laboratory within the island and is implementing mangrove reforestation, and giant clam seeding. There is also a plan to convert the island into an alternative spawning ground for giant turtles.
