Fort San Pedro is one of the oldest Spanish Forts in the Philippines. Work was first started in May 8, 1565 with Legaspi himself breaking the ground. Most of the sporadic assaults are at night raids and came from the sea, so Legaspi constructed the fort by the shore. The name "San Pedro" was derived from Legaspi's flagship in which he sailed the Pacific Ocean in 1565.
