The Philippine Tourism Authority headed by its General Manager and CEO Robert Dean S. Barbers placed our country in the very prestigious Guinness Book of World Records for the Longest Bunting Line in the world. The Philippines was symbolically binded as one nation, one culture, one heritage and one race through the 13,347.383 feet of uncut and continuous banderitas or buntings last April 2, 2004 that surrounded the festive streets of Intramuros, Manila.
|

This historic event coincided with the commemoration of the bombardment of the Walled City way back in February 1945. With this event, PTA gives new life and radiant color to Intramuros as the new center of cultural activities in Metro Manila.
The event broke the record set in May of 2002 during the Golden Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II where they installed 3,541 feet of buntings. This world- record breaking event was even made more meaningful with the participation of the PTA family who strung-up the buntings expressing their individual significant contributions in attaining prestige for the Philippine Tourism Authority.

A colorful entertainment program was hosted by Ms. Tintin Bersola of Magandang Umaga Bayan and Ms. Rhea Santos of Unang Hirit who were joined together for the first time. Robert Dean S. Barbers, PTA's pride, connected the two ends of the buntings. The Banda ng Maynila, Indak Turismo, Philippine Tourism Chorale, Amazing Philippine Theatre and the La Consolacion College Folk dancers joined the parade and made the event more colorful and lively.
A free live band concert captured the night's party as PTA celebrated its victory.
