The residents of Loboc celebrate the Holy Week in Boholano fashion-- with their own version of the pasyon prayers, followed by a solemn penitential procession up the Cruz Daku, or "Hill of the Big Cross".

 
 

BOLIBONG KINGKING FESTIVAL

This one sounds rather funny, we agree, but the roots of this Boholeno Festival are nothing to laugh about. "Bolibong Kingking" refers to the beat of drums and gongs that accompany the dancing devotees of Our Lady of Guadalupe. See and hear it all in the town of Loboc as it celebrates this annual religious occasion.

SANDUGO FESTIVAL
July 1-31

The Spanish colonization of the Philippines began with a blood-sealed peace treaty on the shores of Bohol. This historic event is remembered today with an all-out fiesta at the island's capital city. Check out the Sandugo street dancing parade on the 22nd, featuring ten colorfully-dressed groups dancing to the beat of drums. There's also a traditional Filipino carnival, a martial arts festival and a Miss Bohol Sandugo Beauty Pageant, among dozens of other exciting activities.

 

SANDUGO RE-ENACTMENT

Long,long ago, a Boholano chieftain and a Spanish conquistador sealed their blood on a peace treaty that paved the way for the eventual colonization of the Philippine Islands. See this historic event come alive in an annual re-enactment called the Sandugo.

 
 

SUROY SA MUSIKERO

This is a celebration where the Loboc town musician cover the daily assigned areas to partake the foods served by the host to play music to the tune of Kuradang, Dalaga sa Baybayon, etc. This is also the period carolers render Christmas songs to the families of the host area.
